Service 05 · SIL
Supported Independent Living
SIL is assistance with daily tasks in a participant's home, generally where significant help or supervision is required across the day. It is a support arrangement - not the property itself.
The Service
Support with daily life at home.
SIL is assistance with daily tasks in a participant's home, generally where significant help or supervision is required across the day.
Included Support
What this service can include
Support is established around routines, preferences and assessed requirements.
01
Assistance with agreed daily routines and household activities.
02
Personal assistance where included in the participant's funded and agreed support arrangement.
03
Support to develop or maintain skills for living as independently as possible.
04
Assistance with meal routines, household organisation and participation in everyday home life.
05
Overnight or other rostered assistance where funded, assessed and agreed.
06
Coordination of day-to-day support delivery within the SIL service arrangement.
How We Approach It
More than filling shifts.
SIL requires more than filling shifts. We establish the participant's routines,
preferences, communication, risks, decision-making arrangements, household
context and support requirements. In shared settings, individual rights and
needs must remain visible within the overall roster.
Who This May Suit
Support that fits assessed needs.
Participants with SIL funding whose assessed needs and rostered support requirements are within Care of Australia's current capability and service capacity.
Quality, Safety & Accountability
Clear support and housing arrangements.
Supported decision-making, safeguarding, practice governance and clear
housing/support arrangements are central to SIL delivery.
Important service note
Care of Australia confirms SIL suitability through a specific intake and assessment process. Housing and SIL are separate concepts, and the participant's living arrangement must not be misrepresented as part of SIL funding.
