Service 03 · SDA
Specialist Disability Accommodation
SDA is specialised housing for eligible participants with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. It is different from the personal assistance or daily living services a person may receive in the home.
The Service
Specialised housing with clear responsibilities.
SDA is specialised housing for eligible participants with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment.
Included Support
What this service can include
Housing-related information and responsibilities are clearly defined within the registered SDA role.
01
Clear information about the SDA dwelling or housing arrangement where Care of Australia is acting within its registered SDA role.
02
Communication about dwelling-related responsibilities, occupancy arrangements and relevant property matters.
03
Coordination of housing-related information with the participant and authorised representatives.
04
Processes for reporting and responding to dwelling maintenance or housing-related concerns within the provider's responsibility.
05
Clear separation between housing decisions and the participant's choice of other NDIS services wherever required.
How We Approach It
The home remains the participant's home.
We treat the home as the participant's home, not as a service venue.
Housing responsibilities, participant rights, tenancy or occupancy
arrangements, privacy and the role of other providers should be clearly distinguished.
Who This May Suit
For eligible SDA participants.
NDIS participants who have SDA included in their plan and require a dwelling that meets the relevant SDA requirements.
Quality, Safety & Accountability
Clear housing responsibilities.
SDA delivery requires specific regulatory and dwelling obligations.
Suitability depends on the participant's plan, the enrolled dwelling,
vacancy and the applicable SDA arrangements.
Important service note
SDA funding and eligibility are determined through the NDIS. Registration alone does not mean every SDA category, design type or location is available through Care of Australia.
