Service 02
Innovative Community Participation
This service is focused on building capacity for meaningful participation where a standard activity model may not be enough. The emphasis is on developing practical confidence, relationships and pathways that can increase a person's involvement in community life.
The Service
Building capacity for meaningful participation.
The emphasis is on developing practical confidence, relationships and pathways that can increase a person's involvement in community life.
Included Support
What this service can include
Support is shaped around relevant interests, strengths and community opportunities.
01
Exploring interests, strengths and community opportunities that are relevant to the participant.
02
Building confidence to enter new social, recreational, learning or community environments.
03
Practising communication, planning, problem-solving and relationship-building in real settings.
04
Developing routines and strategies that may reduce reliance on direct assistance over time where this is a realistic goal.
05
Supporting participation in individually relevant community-based opportunities.
How We Approach It
Start with the outcome.
We start with the outcome the participant wants to achieve, then identify
the barriers that make participation difficult. Assistance is shaped around
those barriers rather than simply adding more outings to a roster.
Who This May Suit
Explore new ways to participate.
Participants who want to expand their community involvement, develop social confidence, strengthen independence or explore new ways to participate.
Quality, Safety & Accountability
Participant-led participation.
Progress is reviewed against practical outcomes. Activities remain
participant-led and should reflect genuine interests rather than provider convenience.
